GAF HDZ Charcoal Roof Replacement in North Ridgeville, OH

Nestled in a quiet, established neighborhood in North Ridgeville, OH, this classic colonial home had long been a point of pride for its owners. However, after years of enduring the unpredictable weather patterns of Northeast Ohio—ranging from heavy lake-effect snow to intense summer heat—the roof was finally showing its age. The homeowners contacted M&T Roofing & Restoration when it was time for a new roof.

Materials & Products

For this project, the homeowners selected GAF Timberline HDZ® shingles in Charcoal. This color was chosen for its versatility, providing a sharp, high-contrast look that complemented the home's light-colored siding and shutters. The GAF HDZ line is renowned for its LayerLock™ technology, which powers the industry's widest nail zone for incredibly fast and accurate installation.

In addition to the shingles, we utilized the full GAF weather protection suite:

• GAF FeltBuster™: A GAF synthetic underlayment that provides a critical extra layer of protection between the shingles and the roof deck.

• GAF WeatherWatch®: Mineral-surfaced leak barrier applied to valleys and eaves to prevent ice damming—a common culprit for roof failure in North Ridgeville.

• Cobra® Ridge Vent: To ensure proper airflow and reduce attic heat buildup.

The Process

The project began early on a Tuesday morning. Our crew took extensive measures to protect the homeowner's landscaping and driveway, cleaning throughout the day. Our experienced team meticulously installed the GAF system.

Because we are experts in professional roof replacement, we were able to complete the entire 16-square project, including the tear-off and a thorough magnetic sweep for nails, in just a day and a half. The homeowner was kept informed through every stage of the process via photos and direct communication from our project manager.

The Result

The transformation was immediate and striking. The Charcoal shingles gave the North Ridgeville property a modern, sophisticated edge that significantly boosted its curb appeal. Beyond the aesthetics, the homeowners gained the ultimate peace of mind that comes with the GAF Golden Pledge® Limited Warranty—the strongest warranty in the industry, available only through GAF Master Elite® contractors.

With their new roof, the family no longer has to worry about the next Northeast Ohio thunderstorm or heavy snowfall. The home is now better ventilated, more secure, and carries a transferable warranty that adds significant value to the property for decades to come.
